What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a non-contagious, chronic skin disorder. It happens when your body reproduces new skin cells at a faster than normal rate, causing the cells to pile up on the surface. Usually psoriasis appears on the scalp, elbows, lower back, buttocks, and knees. It can also affect your toenails and fingernails, leaving them yellowed and pitted.
