Whenever the following foods are mentioned on MyFoodMyHealth, it means the following unless otherwise specified in the recipe:

     
   
     
  • All milk is whole.
  • All yogurt is whole milk.
  • All eggs are large.
  • All butter is unsalted.
  • All salt is sea salt preferably.
  • All white flour is unbleached.
  • One medium onion is 6 ounces. It yields 1 cup.
  • 1 garlic clove equals 1 teaspoon minced.
  • All peanut butter is sugar free, with no hydrogenated oils.
  • All bacon is nitrate free.
  • All parsley is flat-leaved.
  • Add 1 tablespoon salt to 4 quarts boiling water for blanching vegetables or cooking pasta.
  • One lime yields about 3 tablespoons fresh juice.
  • One lemon yields about 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) fresh juice.
  • Unless it is stated that a dish goes from the freezer to the oven, defrost it first.
  • Let meat sit for an hour at room temperature before cooking.
