Stock Your Kitchen with These Versatile Whole Ingredients

Whether you have a large pantry or just a bit of shelf space in a city kitchen, you should keep these basic ingredients on-hand. Then you'll always be ready to whip up a delicious and nutritious meal.

  • Maple Syrup (Grade B Organic)
  • Miso

    • Olive oil (extra virgin)
    • Coconut oil
    • Sesame oil
    • Safflower oil (Spectrum Brand's 100% expeller-pressed unrefined organic)
    • Sunflower oil
    • Exotic nut oils (walnut oil, hazelnut oil, red palm oil etc.) They have a shorter shelf life and should be refrigerated after opening.
  • Nuts (unsalted, particularly almonds)
  • Pasta (100% whole wheat; try quinoa, buckwheat varieties)
  • Popcorn (air-popped or microwave light)
  • Quinoa
  • Rice (basmati, brown, jasmine)
  • Sardines
  • Sea Salt
  • Seeds (pumpkin, sunflower)
  • Spreads (fruit-only or low-sugar spreads)
  • Stock (chicken and/or vegetable). Keeps loads of this on hand. It can be frozen.  
  • Tamari (soy sauce but without wheat)
  • Tomato Paste
  • Tuna (in water)
  • Worcestershire Sauce
